![]() Less important, but running Plex on the nas (given the dual 6-core cpu), has also been an idea, so good support for something like that is also a plus (would love to run it in container even, not VM). Also, I could not find any reliable info about this, but I would be real happy if I could run the OS from a USB key, so if any of these have explicit support for that (like esxi), that would be really nice. I would also most likely install a SSD cache later down the line, so good support for that is a nice to have. I plan on buying 3 or most likely all 4 drives initially, so expandability of Unraid is not a feature I would deeply care about, to mention that. With this in mind, what would then be the best choice here. I have other servers running Proxmox, and my primary goal with this NAS is to install Proxmox Backup Server on it, but because I still want to use it as a NAS, I would prefer not to have PBS as my main OS, rather run it as a VM/container. ![]() Each has their own pros and cons, and I would love to hear your opinion on which one I should choose. To have a NAS I need to choose an OS and I have looked at the 3 different options Unraid vs TrueNAS CORE vs TrueNAS SCALE. The server has 2x Xeon X5650 and 12 GB ram, so performance should not be a big issue, as I plan to upgrade the ram most likely. Hi, I have begun expanding my homelab and I got my hands on a Supermicro server with four 3.5" drive bays, which I now plan on using as a NAS.
